Statutory insurance

What is every pregnant woman or mother entitled to?

Every woman has the right to midwife counselling and support. The basis for this is provided by the German Social Code. The provision of midwife support is regulated by §134a SGB V. The statutory health insurance funds cover the costs for the pregnant woman or mother.

How long can a midwife be consulted?

You are entitled to midwife help for as long as you are breastfeeding, but at least until your baby is 9 months old. Your health insurance company will cover your consultations during this time if you do not exceed the amount you are entitled to. Midwives are also familiar with older children or have answers to questions about contraception or the desire to have children. You can also ask the emergency midwife for advice. However, your health insurance company will only cover these costs if it is accommodating. Simply book the appointment as a self-payer. You will then receive an invoice that you can submit to your health insurance company.

Do I have to pay in advance?

In principle, a woman with statutory health insurance does not have to pay in advance. The midwives bill the insured person's health insurance fund directly. The insurance details are requested for this purpose.v

How is the counselling billed?

The midwives, including our emergency service midwives, bill the health insurance company directly. You don't have to worry about anything except providing us with your health insurance details in advance.

What data is collected?

We need your insurance number, the name of the insurer, your date of birth and the calculated date of birth of your child. We also collect contact information so that we can contact you in accordance with our service.

Will my data be used elsewhere?

Your data transmitted in this way will be stored in Germany for billing purposes with the health insurance companies. They will not be used for any other purpose.

Private insurance

When to use self-pay services?

If you are a second parent or relative, or do not have health insurance in Germany, you can use our online midwife counselling service as a self-payer. The same applies to you if you have used up the budget for midwife assistance with another midwife. If you have reached the maximum limit of the health insurance coverage (budget limit), we cannot bill for you. You can submit the self-payment vouchers to your health insurance company. Your health insurance company employee can reimburse these to you as a gesture of goodwill.
